Saints QB Drew Brees will play in his first preseason game since suffering a strained oblique that caused him to miss the first two games.
The New Orleans Saints will be marching into Indianapolis to face QB Andrew Luck and the Colts in a preseason dress rehearsal game.
Saints QB Drew Brees will return to the team and start in his first action since suffering a strained oblique muscle late in July that caused him to miss several weeks of practice. Brees first returned to full padded practices earlier this week and appears to have made a full recovery, so the Saints will let him start in the dress rehearsal game to see how ready he is with the new offense.
TE Jimmy Graham will also start for the Saints, though he has been in hot water with both the team and the league after twice violating the preseason rule against dunking over the goalpost – actions which cost the tight end $30,000 in fines.
The Colts have almost all of their answers at all of the positions except RB – the team made moves to acquire new RBs to assist Trent Richardson, who has continued to struggle.
Prediction: Saints – Drew Brees should be able to make quick work of the Colts DBs in the first quarter and the backups have been very efficient in relief of Brees, so they should be able to pull out the win in this game.
