The New Orleans Saints will take on the Tennessee Titans in their next preseason match, and quarterback Drew Brees is expected to return.
The New Orleans Saints defeated the St. Louis Rams 26-24 in their preseason opener, and they will take on the Tennessee Titans in their next preseason game.
The Saints played without quarterback Drew Brees, but Ryan Griffin looked sharp and appears to be in serious competition for the No. 2 job.
Rookie wide receiver Brandin Cooks has lived up to his hype so far, as he caught five passes for 55 yards and a touchdown. It will be scary to imagine what he can accomplish with Brees throwing to him. Brees will look to keep recovering from an oblique strain.
The running game looked excellent as well with Mark Ingram rushing for 83 yards on eight carries, and Khiry Robinson added another 23 yards on just five carries.
Meanwhile, the Titans have a promising running game of their own. Rookie Bishop Sankey rushed for 37 yards on 13 carries and added three receptions for 38 yards and a touchdown. Shonn Greene also looks like he’ll be a solid backup after rushing for 20 yards on five carries.
However, the quarterback play looked terrible. Zach Mettenberger and Charlie Whitehurst did nothing to assure Titans fans that they can be reliable backups if the injury-prone Jake Locker goes down again.
Wide receiver Kendall Wright sat out the Packers game, but he is expected to return for the Saints game. The former Baylor star will look to prove that he is still the No. 1 receiver.
