Tottenham’s latest recruit thinks his side can win the league…
Tottenham’s new Danish playmaker Christian Eriksen believes his side has the quality to win the Premier League, Team Talk reports.
Spurs snapped up the £11.5m Ajax man, despite reported interest from Serie giants AC Milan and Premier League rivals Liverpool.
The 21-year-old will join a wealth of attacking talent in the White Harte lane squad, following Spurs’ ambitious summer in the transfer market. Tottenham also snapped up record-signing Erik Lamela, Spanish striker Roberto Soldado and Brazilian midfielder Paulinho among others, and Eriksen believes his new team can mount a serious challenge for the title.
“It was the whole package that attracted me. I spoke briefly with the manager and my impression is that he is a very good manager. The goal is to challenge for the title. That is what the club wants and that is what I want,” he said.
Eriksen knows because of his age, and the large Spurs squad, he is by no means guaranteed a starting spot, but is prepared to work hard to eventually nail one down.
“I might need to acclimatise, so I am not expecting to play all the games. But then I don’t know what the manager has planned for me.
“From the conversations I have had, they have indicated that they see me as an attacking midfielder, a creative player.”
Eriksen bagged 25 league goals in 113 appearances for the Dutch champions, and has already won 37 caps for his country.
