Arturo Vidal is a popular man in Europe these days – so popular that he’s caught the eye of Bundesliga too. Will Louis van Gaal lose his prized target to his former club?
As Arsenal and Man United step their transfer battle over Juventus star midfielder Arturo Vidal, a Bundesliga powerhouse has decided to swoop in with a major shock bid.
According to the Express, Bayern Munich have thrown their hats (and wallets) into the ring with a £21 million bid for Vidal. The 28-year-old Vidal is coming off a sensational season with the Serie A champs and has been a major target of Arsenal, Man United and Real Madrid.
Ironically for Man United, the move on the Bundesliga outfit’s part is an almost direct result of the Red Devils’ £14 million acquisition of Bayern star midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger just this past weekend.
However, the Express reported that Juventus are looking to secure a transfer fee for Vidal in the area of £32 million – so Bayern may need to improve their offer by more than half if they even want a whiff of the Chilean superstar.
Vidal was named the 2015 Copa America Final Man of the Match after his home nation (and tournament host nation) Chile defeated Argentina in a 4-1 shootout following a 0-0 draw. In 124 appearances for Juventus, Vidal has 35 goals and has been named to the Serie A Team of the Year twice. Last season Juventus won the Serie A Championship and finished the year as the runner-ups in the UEFA Champions League final to Barcelona.
