The 30-year-old is currently unhappy with life in Turkey and looking for a move this winter, with the Saints seemingly ready to pounce for him to improve their midfield options.
Ronald Koeman’s side are in a mini crisis at the moment after a fine start to the season, and the experience and quality of Sneijder could help steady the ship at the St Mary’s Stadium.
Sneijder has long been linked with both United and Chelsea, though their interest may have cooled for the moment as they both target his fellow countryman Kevin Strootman.
