Sydney FC have included their five new signings in the squad that will meet J-League club Sagan Tosu in Japan next week.
New-boys Nick Carle, Pedj Bojic, Corey Gameiro, Mark Warren and Matt Jurman will be amongst the 18-man group that will fly out to Fukuoka, via Tokyo, on Sunday for next Wednesday’s pre-season friendly.
The quintet will be accompanied by Italian marquee Alessandro Del Piero and A-League All-Stars Brett Emerton and Rhyan Grant as the Sky Blues step up their preparations for the 2013/14 campaign which kicks-off in October.
Sydney thrashed Belmore United 6-0 and Sydney University 7-1 in their earlier pre-season fixtures and assistant coach Rado Vidosic, who will manage the side while Head Coach Frank Farina finishes a Pro Licence coaching course in Australia, anticipates a stiffer exam in Eastern Asia.
“The match against Sagan Tosu will be a big step up and a tough test for the squad,” he told Football Australia.
“We have played two matches against State League sides and we have been working hard on fitness and a new style of play.
“We also have a few new players and they are all coming to Japan for the game so this will be an important move in the right direction.”
