Blues move a step closer to landing exciting midfielder.
Chelsea’s hopes of signing coveted Bayer Leverkusen’s Andre Schurrle at the end of the season appear to hinge on Kevin De Bruyne agreeing to join the Bundesliga outfit in return, reports the Daily Mail.
The West London club have been tracking Germany international Schurrle for some time now, even having a multimillion-pound bid for the player rejected by his employers last summer.
However, the Uefa Champions League holders have not given up on landing their number one transfer target, with talks with Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voller having taken place recently about a possible £20 million deal for the 20-year-old.
However, the move for Schurrle appears to now rest on Chelsea midfield player De Bruyne also signing on loan with the German outfit for next season.
The 21-year-old Belgium international is currently out on loan with Bundesliga side Werder Bremen, where he has six goals and nine assists in his 29 league appearances so far this season, while Schurrle has netted nine times with five assists in the same number of games.
