The New York Giants finished their preseason with a perfect 5-0 record as they beat the New England Patriots, 16-13. Eli Manning made the start at quarterback and played briefly, and he continued to struggle with zero yards on 1-of-4 passing.
Ryan Nassib and Curtis Painter each took over later, and they were unable to move the chains very much. However, kicker Josh Brown had himself a solid game as he opened with a 24-yard field goal.
Patriots quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who made the start, responded with a touchdown pass to give the Patriots a 7-3 lead. Giants running back Peyton Hillis then responded with a one-yard touchdown run. Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski tied the game at 10 heading into halftime, and he made another one at the beginning of the third quarter.
Brown sealed the win for the Giants with two field goals of his own in the fourth quarter.
Garoppolo finished with 284 yards and a touchdown on 22-of-42 passing, but he also threw an interception. Aaron Dobson led the way for the receivers with three receptions, 57 yards and a touchdown.
