Victor Cruz led the New York Giants with 4 receptions for 61 yards in the first half as the Giants beat their cross-town rivals the New York Jets.
The New York Giants defeated the New York Jets 35-24 in the annual Snoopy Bowl preseason game between the two stadium rivals.
Giants QB Eli Manning started the game poorly, getting sacked twice and fumbling both times without losing possession, but on the final drive of the first half, Manning led the Giants down the field on a long drive and connected with WR Reuben Randle for a TD, making the score 10-7 Jets at the end of the half.
In the second half, QB Ryan Nassib entered the game and tore into the Jets second- and third-team defenses, going 8 of 12 for 103 yards and 3 TDs. Late in the 4th quarter, RB Andre Williams scored a 1-yard TD to make the game 28-24 Giants, but a failed fourth down conversion by the Jets gave the Giants the ball again in the Jets territory, and several plays later Nassib connected with WR Corey Washington for a 31-yard TD and took the lead for good in the final two minutes.
The Jets dominated most of the first half with QB Geno Smith going 9 of 14 for 137 yards and a TD to TE Jace Amaro in the 2nd quarter. Smith performed so well in the game that Jets head coach Rex Ryan named him the Week 1 starter against the Raiders.
Jets backup QB Michael Vick added a TD in the third quarter, but a lost fumble in the early 3rd quarter led to a Giants TD. QB Matt Simms took over late in the third quarter and scored a TD in the fourth, but could not withstand a late rally by the Giants to take the lead and eventually extend it for the victory.
