The New York Giants enter their second preseason game with running back Andre Williams looking to build on his impressive debut as the Steelers have two rookie defensive players looking to impress.
The New York Giants made numerous upgrades to their roster through free agency, and it’s hard to blame them after their depth was exposed through injuries last season. They will put these to the test in their next preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Giants’ offensive line and running game looks to be dramatically improved. Rashad Jennings will see first-team reps at running back.
Cornerback is also much deeper with Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Walter Thurmond signed. Rodgers-Cromartie is expected to be a starter while Thurmond will likely be the nickel corner since Prince Amukamara is already penciled in as a starter.
Among the rookies, running back Andre Williams is a key player to watch. He performed well in the Hall of Fame game, rushing for 48 yards and a touchdown on seven carries. Rookie wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. will sit out with a hamstring injury.
The Steelers will have their first two draft picks on defense, and they are expected by many to make an instant impact. Inside linebacker Ryan Shazier and defensive end Stephon Tuitt will be the key players to watch after they have impressed Dick LeBeau in training camp.
There will also be two bruising running backs in LeVeon Bell and LeGarrette Blount sharing carries while young receivers such as Markus Wheaton will look to step up in Emmanuel Sanders’ place.
