The New York Jets put up a big fight against the New England Patriots, but they came up short as they lost, 27-25. They scored a touchdown in the final minutes of the fourth quarter after trailing, 27-19.
However, quarterback Geno Smith was unable to complete a pass on the Jets’ two-point conversion attempt. The Jets received one final opportunity to win the game as kicker Nick Folk lined up for a 58-yard field goal.
The Patriots blocked it to win, but Smith realizes that his failed two-point conversion attempt hindered the Jets’ bid for an upset win. “Jace (Amaro) did a great job of getting open, and I gotta give him a better ball, that’s completely on me. He ran a great route, and I didn’t give him a good enough ball,” the Jets quarterback said to NFL.com.
Although he failed to come through in the clutch, Smith put together a respectable performance as he threw for 226 yards and a touchdown pass with no turnovers.
The Jets will be hard-pressed to put together a winning season though as they now sit at 1-6.
