Future uncertain for recently re-signed running back.
New York Jets running back Mike Goodson, who just signed a three-year deal with the National Football League club, was arrested Friday morning on drug possession and weapon charges, police said.
Goodson and another man, Garant Evans, were spotted by a tow truck driver in a stopped vehicle in suburban Denville, New Jersey, according to state police.
Police arrested Goodson, 25, who was found to possess marijuana. A handgun and more marijuana was found by police upon searching the vehicle.
Goodson was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, unlawful handgun possession, possession of a loaded handgun and possession of hollow point ammunition.
Evans, 31, faces the same charges as well as one for driving while intoxicated.
Goodson played last year with Oakland after spending his first three NFL seasons with the Carolina Panthers before inking a deal worth $6.9 million to join the Jets ahead of the upcoming campaign that opens in September.
In 40 games over four NFL seasons, Goodson has run for 722 yards and three touchdowns on 160 carries and caught 59 passes for 524 yards and one touchdown. He also worked on kick return units.
