They were not far behind the Minnesota Timberwolves for the worst record, and they are sure to end up with a high lottery pick.
Reports have come out saying that they prefer Kentucky big man Karl-Anthony Towns over Duke center Jahlil Okafor, who is considered a favorite to go No. 1 overall.
The Knicks have Towns first on their big board with Okafor second, followed by Emmanuel Mudiay at third and Ohio State point guard D’Angelo Russell at fourth.
The Knicks have a 19.9 percent chance at winning the NBA Draft lottery, so there’s a good chance they may end up with Towns.
Even if they settle for the second pick, they may get Towns anyway since Okafor is likely first on many other teams’ draft boards. However, the Knicks are not the only team who prefer Towns first.
