Socceroos midfielder has joined up with the A-League side after a torrid spell in Korea.
Newcastle Jets have completed the loan signing of midfielder Nathan Burns from Korean side Incheon United.
Australia international Burns, who previously spent five seasons at AEK Athens in Greece, joined Incheon at the start of 2012 but found it difficult to settle at the K-League outfit and was reportedly seeking a route back to the A-League ahead of the forthcoming season.
The 25-year-old Socceroos has since been granted his wish after penning a six-month deal with Newcastle until January, although a stipulated return to his parent club in Week 14 has been written into the temporary contract.
However, the former Adelaide United star says he is eager to get started at the Hunter Stadium and is looking forward to what he hopes will be a successful campaign with the club back.
“Newcastle is a big club with good support and I’m really looking forward to playing in front of the fans,” Burns told Sportal.
“I really want to get back playing and get back into a good team environment and I think Newcastle has that.
“They have some fantastic experience and very good young players so I look forward to fitting in with them and helping the team win.
“The club showed a lot of interest in me from the start and when you get that commitment and that level of interest it kind of inspires you to go there.”
