It was a much-needed result for the Knights. At home, Newcastle opened the scoring through James McManus.
But it didn’t take long for the Tigers to respond. Luke Brooks set up Dene Halatua.
A mistake from Pat Ritchards then gifted Newcastle a try. They went 12-6 in front.
The six-point difference remained until half-time. But the scores were tied at 12-12 thanks to an audacious bit of skill.
James Tedesco kicked three times to set up Brooks for a try.
Newcastle wouldn’t be stopped though. BJ Leulia touched down from a bomb and they had the lead back.
Then with a few minutes left, debutant Chad Redman sealed the win and the Knights losing streak was finally over.
