It will be the first game of the new era in Newcastle under new coach Rick Stone. Stone has replaced Wayne Bennet, who has joined the Broncos.
The Knights also have new ownership and new signings in the form of Tariq Sims from North Queensland. Newcastle will be keen to start the 2015 season with a bang against the Warriors.
New Zealand has its own new man at the helm, Andrew McFadden, who took over from Matthew Elliot halfway through last year. Like the Knights, who also missed the semis in 2014, they are hoping for a brighter season this year.
Pivotal to their chances will be Kiwi halfback Shaun Johnson, named as the best player in the world in 2014, and English fullback Sam Tomkins.
The Kiwi national side won the Four Nations in December and a number of those players will be in Warriors colours in this game, including Simon Mannering and Ben Matulino.
That will surely give the visitors a boost, along with the arrival of veteran Ryan Hoffman from the Melbourne Storm.
