Uate will miss the rest of the 2014 season, requiring surgery after ongoing knee issues.
Newcastle Knights winger Akuila Uate will miss the remaining two games of the NRL season after undergoing knee surgery.
Uate has been in and out of the Knights side this season after struggling with an ongoing left knee injury, before it was decided last week the 26-year-old would undergo surgery.
The surgery will allow Uate to pre-season training with the Knights later in the year.
In other Knights injury news, fellow winger James McManus has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a foot injury.
McManus was hoping to return before the Knights’ round 26 clash with St. George Illawarra at Hunter Stadium, however he too will not return in 2014.
With both Uate and McManus out through injury, the Mata’utia brothers, Sione and Chanel, have been playing on the wings for Wayne Bennett’s side.
