Newcastle have reopened talks to sign Lyon striker Bafetimbi Gomis, according to the Daily Telegraph.
The Toon agreed a fee with Lyon for the 28-year-old earlier this month but Gomis was reportedly reluctant to move to St. James’ Park, with Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas claiming the forward had his heart set on a move to Germany.
Newcastle’s only major addition this summer has been QPR striker Loic Remy, who arrived on a season-long loan deal, but the club’s director of football Joe Kinnear held a meeting with boss Alan Pardew, chief scout Graham Carr and football secretary Lee Charnley on Tuesday, and is said to be confident of landing two or three new players before the 2 September transfer deadline.
Sky have claimed Kinnear is interested in re-signing Demba Ba on loan from Chelsea.
