Alan Pardew and Joe Kinnear are still keen on bringing another forward to the club…
Newcastle are set to launch a £7m bid for Belgian international forward Jelle Vossen, who plays for Genk in his home country, reports the Daily Star.
Vossen is 24-years-old, and has a very impressive scoring record for his boyhood club. The young forward has 82 goals in the 184 Belgian league appearances, and two in 11 for the national side, where he competes with the likes Christian Benteke and Romelu Lukaku.
Newcastle were to set to bring a second French forward to Tyneside, with Lyon hitman Bafetimbi Gomis heavily on the club’s radar following a loan deal for QPR striker Loic Remy. The Gomis deal has hit the rocks due to a dispute between the player and his president Jean-Michel Aulas, and Newcastle are keen to snap up their new target quickly as the season draws close.
With Crystal Palace favourites to sign forgotten Aston Villa striker Darren Bent, Newcastle will be desperate to bring in the Belgian striker as soon as possible, so he can be registered in time for the opener against Chelsea next Monday.
Newcastle have struggled in the transfer market all summer, and have so far only secured the loan deal for Remy.
