Tim Krul and Rob Elliot are both out of action for the foreseeable future, with the latter having limped out of the weekend defeat of Chelsea to be replaced by youngster Jak Alnwick, leading to a goalkeeping crisis at St. James’ Park.
Newcastle could be allowed to bring in a goalkeeper on an emergency loan deal if they appeal to the authorities, with Chelsea third choice Schwarzer believed to be the man being targeted.
