Olympique Lyonnais president reveals Newcastle United have bid accepted for star forward.
Newcastle United have had an offer accepted by Olympique Lyonnais for their striker Bafetimbi Gomis, according to the Ligue 1 club’s president Jean-Michel Aulas.
“We have accepted the proposal of Newcastle, which is eight million euros, plus two million bonus,” Aulas told French publication Journal du Dimanche, as translated by ITV Football.
“The agreement is now linked to the acceptance of agents’ fees. I understand that the problem is in the amount and manner of payment of commissions.
“There are several people involved in the operation, which complicates the negotiations. But I am hopeful that things will be resolved within 24 or 48 hours.”
The Magpies have needed additional firepower up front ever since Demba Ba moved to Chelsea in January, with current number 9 Papiss Demba Cisse struggling for form.
Lyon star Gomis looks set to be a great signing for Alan Pardew’s team, with the 27 year-old grabbing 16 goals and 4 assists in his 37 appearances for the Ligue 1 outfit last season.
