Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye is on the verge of joining Paris Saint-Germain after the St James’ Park club accepted an offer from the Ligue 1 giants.
PSG have made a bid of £19 million plus performance based incentives that could bring the total fee beyond £20m, and Magpies boss Alan Pardew is likely to be left with the task of reorganising his squad in the final week of the January transfer window.
Cabaye’s head was turned in the latter stages of the summer window too, with Premier League rivals Arsenal contemplating a move, but no offer was ever accepted.
The France international has shone for the Magpies this season, dictating play from the middle of the park thanks to his excellent distribution, movement and speed of thought.
Cabaye will need to pass a medical at Parc des Princes before the deal is officially complete, but the 28 year-old is likely to have played his last match for Newcastle United.
