The Senegalese international was involved in a row with Manchester United defender Jonny Evans in Wednesday night’s game at St James’ Park, with his opponent also charged with spitting.
Evans is yet to respond to his punishment, but Cisse looks to have held his hands up to accept his wrongdoing in the wake of the unsavoury incident.
The 29-year-old will also be reminded of his responsibilities as a role model by staff at the club in the wake of this poor show of discipline.
