Reports emerging from France say that the Arsenal target has been training as always, and has even caught Spurs’ eye late in the transfer window.
French network RMC Sport have reported on an intriguing twist in the Yohan Cabaye transfer story.
The site reports that not only is the Newcastle not on strike, but he is currently training with the club – and led the side in training all last week.
Whilst this may do little to settle speculation on a prospective transfer, it could at least go some way to calming Newcastle fans who would have been no doubt infuriated that their player would try to push through a transfer.
It would also seem to suggest that rather than refuse to play in the weekend’s goalless draw against West Ham United, the midfielder was instead withdrawn by the management.
One last twist in the story only serves to complicate matters further – Tottenham Hotspur are allegedly keeping an eye on the player.
Up until this point Cabaye has been the subject of a tug-of-war between Arsenal and French giants Paris Saint-Germain, with Wenger all set to lodge one final bid of £17m to secure the player. Now, with Spurs failing to land Willian, they could well make a late dash for the French international.
