Manchester United have reportedly launched a stunning bid to sign Brazil forward Neymar from 2015 Champions League winners Barcelona.
United are desperate to improve their attack, having hit the net just twice in three Premier League games so far this season, including Kyle Walker’s gift of an own goal on the opening day.
With Wayne Rooney as the only recognised senior striker at Old Trafford, Red Devils manager Louis van Gaal is said to be on the lookout for reinforcements.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane and Bayern Munich’s Thomas Muller have both been linked with a summer switch to Old Trafford, but neither are up for sale.
Neymar is not up for sale either, but Barca may be forced to consider United’s offer if Globo Esporte’s recent report proves to be accurate.
The Brazilian newspaper claim that United have bid £140m for Neymar, who has three years left to run on his current contract at the Camp Nou.
Clearly, £140m is an outrageous sum of money. It would smash the world record for a transfer fee, which currently belongs to Gareth Bale for his £85m move from Tottenham Hotspur to Real Madrid two years ago.
However, as he is only 23 and arguably the best player of his generation, it might be that £140m is a fair price for Neymar.
The former Santos star has scored 31 goals and provided 15 assists in 59 La Liga games in the past two seasons.
His international goals record – 44 in 65 senior appearances – is equally impressive.
