Lionel Messi keen for Barcelona to agree Neymar deal, with Brazilian media reporting a transfer will be concluded after the Confederations Cup.
Lionel Messi has revealed that he is keen for FC Barcelona to sign Santos forward Neymar this summer, and the deal could be concluded as soon as the transfer window opens.
The Argentina international, speaking on television network Qatar Alkass during a trip to the United Arab Emirates, revealed that he was unsure about the progress of the deal but that he would be delighted to play alongside the Brazilian.
“I do not know if in the end he will sign with Barca; that only he knows”, said Messi.
“I know this is a player who has very different individual solutions. It is clear that for Barcelona he would be a wonderful hire”, Messi added.
Brazil talisman Neymar has proved himself as the best player in South America, and his huge repertoire of tricks have yet to be figured out by Santos’ opponents.
However, at the age of just 21, Neymar has won the biggest prizes in football in his home country, and whilst he has previously indicated that he would like to stay with Santos until after the 2014 World Cup, there are indications that he could leave a year ahead of schedule.
Brazilian newspaper O Globo claim that a deal will be struck in July, with Neymar set to move to Camp Nou as soon as the Confederations Cup is over.
Neymar will likely be a long term replacement for David Villa at Barca, with the 21 year-old set to replace Spain’s record goalscorer on the left of the club’s front three.
