Who: Neymar
From: Santos
To: Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG, Man City or Chelsea
Source: Goal.com
When: After 2014 World Cup.
How much: £40m.
Quote: “I do dream about playing in Europe, but there’s nothing concrete at this time. Maybe in the future.”
Stat Attack: The 20-year-old has already racked-up 26 caps for Brazil, scoring 17 times.
Verdict: This is getting dull now. If Neymar had been born a generation sooner, he’d undoubtedly already be playing at one of Europe’s top clubs.
But with the Brazilian economy booming and clubs able to hold onto their star players for longer, Neymar appears happy to remain at Santos until after the 2014 World Cup in his homeland.
And why not? The forward is settled, scoring goals, making headlines and is a regular in the Brazil national squad.
Barcelona looks his most likely destination in 18 months time, with some reports suggesting the Catalans have already struck a first-option agreement with Santos.
The Sao Paulo state club have insisted, however, that there is no deal on the table, giving hope to the likes of Real Madrid, PSG, Man City and Chelsea, who will all surely be in the hunt for Neymar when he finally decides to fulfil his European ‘dream’.
