Manchester United had the door slammed shut right in their faces just as they looked primed to sign Barcelona winger Pedro, who decided to transfer to Chelsea instead.
They may have found another opening though, as the Daily Express reports that the Red Devils are quietly preparing to make a monster bid for Barcelona star forward Neymar.
The Brazilian international is one of the greatest footballers in the world, so Man United are sure to face even more fierce competition for the 23-year-old than they did for Pedro.

Paris Saint-Germain have already emerged as a candidate to land Neymar, as they are looking for someone to fill the big shoes that may be left by striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
However, Man United boss Louis van Gaal should not be counted out as he is eager to make a huge signing before the transfer window closes.
Man United have also been linked to Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale and Bayern Munich’s Thomas Muller.
Due to the high asking price of those two players, it is likely that Man United will have to offer close to £100m to have any chance of landing the Brazilian superstar.
