The NFL announced its three players of the week in the NFC for Week 14 of the 2014 NFL season.
Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week, New York Giants LB Devon Kennard was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week, and St. Louis Rams WR-PR Tavon Austin was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week.
Newton, who suffered two transverse process fractures in his lower back in a car accident Tuesday afternoon, completed 21-of-33 passes for 226 yards with three touchdowns and added a rushing score in the Panthers’ 41-10 win at New Orleans to win the award.
Kennard, a rookie for the Giants, won the award after registering two sacks, a forced fumble and six tackles in the Giants’ 36-7 win against the Tennessee Titans.
Austin returned a punt 78 yards for a touchdown and averaged 35.8 yards on four punt returns in the Rams’ 24-0 win against Washington to win the award.
