3. New England Patriots
The Patriots are heavily favored to beat the Colts, but the Baltimore Ravens proved that the Patriots are vulnerable and can beaten exploited on defense, as they proved by allowing 31 points to the Ravens. However, quarterback Tom Brady put on one of the finest playoff performances of his career with 367 yards, three touchdown passes and an interception on 33-of-50 passing. The running game was entirely wiped out of the Patriots offense in the second half as they trailed, 28-14.
However, the Colts run defense was gashed by Jonas Gray for 201 rushing yards and four touchdowns. They had allowed LeGarrette Blount to put on a similar performance in last year’s playoff matchup, and Blount is back to exploit that weakness again after being released by the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Patriots defense will be a force as well with cornerback Darrelle Revis leading the way and hungry for a Super Bowl.
