According to an ESPN interview with Jameis Winston’s father, the controversial former Heisman trophy winner will enter the 2015 NFL draft.
David Hale of ESPN reported that Antonor Winston said that his son will enter the 2015 NFL draft. That contradicts what Winston’s father said yesterday, which was that his son wouldn’t make a decision until next week.
Winston was the 2013 Heisman trophy winner, led the Florida State Seminoles to a 28-game winning streak before it was snapped in the Rose Bowl by the Oregon Ducks, won two ACC Championships, and won the 2013 BCS National Championship over the Auburn Tigers.
Winston is considered one of the top 5 prospects in the 2014 NFL draft. Oregon QB Marcus Mariota is the only QB who ranks as highly as him. However, Winston is also haunted by off-the-field incidents including shoplifting crab legs, a suspension for inappropriate on-campus behavior and most notably a rape accusation which was later withdrawn.
Among the teams that would be likely to take Winston in the first round of the draft are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tennessee Titans and New York Jets.
