Safety has connections with the team and could be interested if an offer came along.
Top defensive free agent Dashon Goldson would be interested in a move to the Cincinnati Bengals.
Unless the San Francisco 49ers can strike up an extension with the Pro Bowl safety by Tuesday, Goldson will be free to hit the market and listen to offers from other teams.
In an interview on Siriusfm, Goldson admitted he has friends at the team and likes the team’s set-up at present.
“I like those guys down there. I went to school with Reggie Nelson, played with Nate Clements, I was here with Taylor Mays and Manny Lawson so I’m familiar with some of those guys and how they play,” Goldson revealed.
“They’ve got a good football team down there. They’re on track and they’ve got a good quarterback and receivers. I will have to consider all my options and we’ll have to see whose interested in me,” he added.
Adding Goldson to their defence would be a huge plus to the team, as they have been leaky against the pass in recent seasons. A player of Goldson’s ability would certainly help plus the gaps.
San Francisco don’t have long to make an offer and if they fail to secure Goldson, they may have make a huge mistake in letting the 28 year-old walk for free.
