NFL Most Valuable Player – QB Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers
There really was no other viable option. No player was more critical to his team’s success than Aaron Rodgers was for the Green Bay Packers. The Packers were simply unbeatable at home, winning 8 regular season games and a playoff game at Lambeau Field thanks in no small part to Aaron Rodgers have the best home passer rating in the league, and NEVER throwing an interception at home.
The knock on this selection is that Rodgers had a much better supporting cast than J. J. Watt did, who did just about everything to make his team successful in spite of a bad offense and a bad supporting defense.
Nonetheless, the numbers that Rodgers put up this year cannot be overlooked and he did everything short of getting his team to the Super Bowl to deserve the MVP selection almost unanimously.
There does exist the possibility that Rodgers and Watt could get tied for the award, but it is highly doubtful. This was the year Aaron Rodgers established himself as one of the three best QBs in the NFL – and that number might be reduced to just two in Peyton Manning retires.
