The 26-year-old has not yet issued any comment on the accusation, while the Colts themselves are still looking into the situation.
Although Peg McLeish, a spokeswoman for the city prosecutor’s office, confirmed that there had been a charge against McNary, she gave no further details at this time.
McNary, who originally hails from Houston, Texas, joined the Colts in 2013 after graduating from Army, and is being charged for incidents believed to have taken place in early December.
The NFL has come under scrutiny in the past for failing to effectively deal with such controversial matters, and this has seen an increase in penalties on players in recent times.
The Colts have not yet issued McNary with any punishment, indicating that they are investigating the matter before offering a public statement.
