Ray Rice suspended Rice suspension upheld (Video) Ray Rice punching wife in elevatorIn a statement by the league following the release of a disturbing video of Ray Rice punching his wife Janay Palmer, the NFL has declared that they had not seen the video when the league set down the punishment.
Ravens insider and Baltimore Sun reporter Aaron Wilson shared the official statement from the league:

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell gave Rice a two-game suspension for the incident based on the original video which had less damning evidence. The backlash from the seemingly short suspension led to Goodell changing the rule for all future domestic violence cases: an automatic 6-game suspension.
Rice will be eligible to return to the Ravens on Friday, the day after they play the Pittsburgh Steelers.
