However, their patience for the upcoming season will be rewarded on Tuesday as the full schedule for the 2015 regular season is set to be released.
While fans can already see who their favorite teams will play at home and on the road, they will be able to see the complete schedule, including when every team will play.
This means New England Patriots fans will finally find out who the Patriots will defend their Super Bowl title against in the 2015 season opener.
Since the Super Bowl champion typically gets to play at home, the Patriots will likely either play the Pittsburgh Steelers or Philadelphia Eagles since they are their toughest home opponents.
However, the NFL may choose to have the Patriots kick off their season with a match against one of their AFC East rivals: the Buffalo Bills, New York Jets or Miami Dolphins.
All of those teams have made improvements to their rosters, most notably the Bills trading for Pro Bowl running back LeSean McCoy.
NFL Network will provide coverage of the schedule reveal starting at 8 p.m. EST.
