Nothing beats two playoff teams on Sunday Night Football and the NFL was gracious enough to give NFL fans one of the best QB matchups of the season: Defending NFL MVP and record-breaker Peyton Manning against the 3rd-year sensation Andrew Luck. Both QBs have a lot in common – being drafted No. 1 overall by the Colts, bringing the team to incredible heights and plenty of postseason success, as well as starting every game for their team since joining the club. But now the Colts are Luck’s team entirely and he brings those Colts to Denver to take on his predecessor.
The Colts on the other hand did not exactly add much in the free agency or the draft, but did manage to pick up WR Hakeem Nicks and not have a healthy Reggie Wayne. Those two in addition to WR T.Y. Hilton give the Colts one of the best receiving corps in football, but it still may not match up with the Broncos.
The Broncos have added some incredible pieces to their already record breaking team: OLB DeMarcus Ware, Safety T.J. Ward, and CB Aqib Talib on defense. On offense the team will now have the services of WRs Emmanuel Sanders and rookie Cody Latimer to replace Eric Decker (joined the Jets) and Wes Welker (suspended for four games)
This will most likely be one of the best shootouts of the year between a young buck and one of the greatest QBs of all-time.
Prediction: Broncos – The Colts are a very good team, but just are not on Denver’s level yet from a defensive front. The Broncos have Pro Bowlers at every level of the defense – the Colts won’t even have star pass rusher Robert Mathis for this one.
