The Philadelphia Eagles will open at home against the Jacksonville Jaguars, who will start Chad Henne at quarterback instead of rookie Blake Bortles.
The Philadelphia Eagles will take on the Jacksonville Jaguars in their season opener, and their offense will adjust to life without wide receiver DeSean Jackson.
Head coach Chip Kelly will look to continue working his offensive magic with young players such as rookie receiver Jordan Matthews and tight end Zach Ertz.
Quarterback Nick Foles is entering his first full season as the Eagles’ starting quarterback, and running back Darren Sproles will join the Eagles and be the key backup to LeSean McCoy.
For the Jaguars, Chad Henne is expected to start at quarterback even though rookie Blake Bortles had himself a fantastic preseason. Toby Gerhart will be their new starting running back after Maurice Jones-Drew departed in free agency.
Gerhart is still a question mark since this is his first season as a full-time starter. The receiving corps is decimated with Justin Blackmon suspended indefinitely, so rookie Marqise Lee and Cecil Shorts will be the starters. Allen Hurns may receive immediate playing time as well after a promising preseason.
If the Jaguars’ receiving corps cannot produce, it may be difficult for them to take advantage of a questionable Eagles secondary.
Prediction: Eagles 27, Jaguars 13
