The New Orleans Saints are riding a two-game winning streak, but they are still looking to climb higher in the NFC playoff race that is heating up more every week.
Their record stands at 4-4 as they lead the NFC South, and they will face the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, who are also 4-4.
The Saints last played on Thursday Night Football the previous week, and they defeated the Carolina Panthers, 28-10. Running back Mark Ingram continued to steamroll through the competition as he ran for 100 yards and two touchdowns on 30 carries.
Meanwhile, the 49ers are coming off their second consecutive loss as they fell to the St. Louis Rams, 13-10. Quarterback Colin Kaepernick fumbled the ball away at the Rams’ one-yard line after it appeared the 49ers would score the winning touchdown.
The running game also sputtered against the Rams as Frank Gore was held to 49 rushing yards, but wide receiver Anquan Boldin was solid as he caught six passes for 93 yards and a touchdown.
The Saints are the hotter team right now, and they are even more difficult to beat at home as demonstrated by their 3-0 home record. The 49ers falling to 4-5 will put their playoff hopes in jeopardy, so both teams will be fighting hard for this win.
Prediction: Saints 27, 49ers 21
