The Philadelphia Eagles muscled out a 31-21 victory over the Houston Texans last week, but it came with a price as starting quarterback Nick Foles suffered a broken clavicle injury that will keep him out for at least six weeks. They will look to move on without him as they face the Carolina Panthers on Monday night.
Mark Sanchez will fill in as the Eagles’ starting quarterback. He threw for 202 passing yards and two touchdown passes with two interceptions.
Running back LeSean McCoy had another great game as he rushed for 117 yards on 24 carries, and wide receiver Jeremy Maclin caught six passes for 158 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, the Panthers are looking for their first win in five weeks. They last beat the Chicago Bears before tying with the Cincinnati Bengals and losing three games in a row.
Their most recent loss came to the New Orleans Saints as they fell to them on Thursday night, 28-10. Quarterback Cam Newton had one of his worst performances ever as he was held to 151 yards and an interception on 10-of-28 passing while losing a fumble.
The Eagles are without Foles, so their offense may regress, and the Panthers are hungry for a win and will be desperate to stay alive in the NFC South race.
Prediction: Panthers 28, Eagles 20
