The Carolina Panthers have hit a skid as they are riding a four-game losing streak, and they are hoping to stay in playoff contention in a weak NFC South as they take on the Atlanta Falcons.
The Panthers were recently blown out, 45-21, on Monday Night Football by the Philadelphia Eagles. Quarterback Cam Newton was playing hurt, and he clearly looked shaken as he threw three interceptions. His two touchdown passes came in garbage time.
Newton said that he continues to keep playing through the pain though, and wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin continues to be Newton’s top weapon. Benjamin caught both of Newton’s touchdown passes against the Eagles.
Running back Jonathan Stewart will continue to split carries with DeAngelo Williams, who is expected to come back despite having a foot injury.
Meanwhile, the Falcons were able to snap their own big losing streak as they defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after losing five games in a row.
Quarterback Matt Ryan threw 219 yards and a touchdown on 20-of-31 passing, and running back Steven Jackson ran for 81 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries.
The Falcons will have another weak defense to take advantage of, and the Panthers have suffered various injuries on their offense.
Prediction: Falcons 28, Panthers 21
