The Atlanta Falcons find themselves in a peculiar position as they are in first place in the NFC South despite holding a 4-6 record. They will seek to stay in playoff contention as they face the Cleveland Browns.
The Falcons achieved a major road win against the Carolina Panthers as they held on for a 19-17 victory. Kicker Matt Bryant drilled a 44-yard field goal after the Panthers took a 17-16 lead.
Quarterback Matt Ryan was solid as he threw for 268 yards and a touchdown on 31-of-45 passing, and he was able to overcome a spotty running game that only managed 86 total yards.
Wide receiver Roddy White led the Falcons in receiving with eight catches for 75 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, the Browns fell back to Earth after a three-game winning streak by losing, 23-7, to the Houston Texans. Quarterback Brian Hoyer threw for 330 yards but only completed 40 percent of his passes.
Isaiah Crowell received the bulk of the carries even though Terrance West had rushed for 94 yards and a touchdown the previous week. However, the logjam has been reduced as Ben Tate was released and claimed by the Minnesota Vikings.
The Falcons are riding a two-game winning streak, and the Browns are a hot-and-cold team. The Falcons have momentum on their side while the Browns don’t.
Prediction: Falcons 28, Browns 17
