Packers Vikings preview
The moment that many NFL fans have been waiting for is finally here. The Green Bay Packers will play the New England Patriots in a highly-anticipated matchup that will feature the first ever duel between quarterbacks Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady.
They have not played each other since 2010, and Rodgers sat out that game with a concussion before Matt Flynn began to play for a starting quarterback contract with a stellar performance. The Packers lost the game, 31-27.
The Packers are currently riding a three-game winning streak, and they beat the Minnesota Vikings on the road, 24-21. Rodgers threw two touchdown passes while running back Eddie Lacy ran for 125 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries.
The Packers defense has been solid since their loss to the New Orleans Saints as they have held their past three opponents to 21 points or less.
The Patriots will provide the ultimate test for them, and they are firing on all cylinders with a seven-game winning streak. They most recently won, 34-9, against the Detroit Lions, who have the top-ranked defense in the NFL.
Brady is one of the frontrunners to win MVP, and he threw for 349 yards with two touchdowns and an interception on 34-of-49 passing against the Lions.
The Patriots secondary, consisting of cornerbacks Darrelle Revis and Brandon Browner, will be a major challenge for Packers receivers Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb.
Both teams have elite offenses that play relatively turnover-free ball, and this game will likely come down to which team can control the clock and commit less turnovers. Having a rough three-game stretch against the Broncos, Colts and Lions may hurt the Patriots since they have to face the Packers on the road.
Prediction: Packers 27, Patriots 21
