The Minnesota Vikings are almost officially out of the NFC North race, but they are hoping to keep their extremely slim playoff chances with a win at home against the Carolina Panthers.
The Vikings put up a fight against the Green Bay Packers, but they ultimately lost, 24-21, after the Packers were able to run out the clock following the Vikings’ final touchdown.
Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater threw two touchdown passes with an interception, and he added 32 yards on the ground.
Running back Jerick McKinnon had another forgettable performance as he was held to 54 yards on 15 carries.
Meanwhile, the Panthers have gone six games without a win. After tying with the Cincinnati Bengals, they lost five games in a row. They are hoping to stay in contention for an NFC South title, which they are unbelievably still chasing with a 3-7-1 record.
Quarterback Cam Newton rallied the Panthers to a 17-16 lead against the Atlanta Falcons after they trailed, 16-3, but the Falcons won with a field goal.
Newton threw two interceptions though, so his play still proved to be costly. Wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin caught nine passes for 109 yards and a touchdown.
The Vikings will be at home for this game, but the Panthers will be coming in strong from a bye week and are hungry for a win.
Prediction: Panthers 28, Vikings 20
