The Arizona Cardinals have been exposed as a vulnerable team in wake of quarterback Carson Palmer’s season-ending injury, and they were upset by the Atlanta Falcons, 29-18. They will look to reassert themselves as the NFC West frontrunners with a win against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Cardinals quarterback Drew Stanton has not been the same as Palmer, and he struggled with 294 yards and one touchdown against two interceptions despite taking on a weak Falcons defense.
Running back Andre Ellington left the game with an aggravated hip injury, and he will not be able to go against the Chiefs. Stepfan Taylor is expected to start, but Marion Grice will likely receive plenty of carries.
Luckily, wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald is expected to return after recovering from a sprained MCL.
Meanwhile, the Chiefs are riding a two-game losing streak like the Cardinals. They were defeated, 29-16, by the Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football.
Running back Jamaal Charles was held to 35 yards on 10 carries, and quarterback Alex Smith was sacked six times as the Chiefs offensive line hardly ever gave him time to throw the ball.
The Chiefs will face another challenge from the Cardinals pass rush. Both teams have a lot at stake since the Cardinals are just one game ahead in the NFC West while the Chiefs are hoping to climb back into the AFC playoff hunt.
Prediction: Cardinals 24, Chiefs 20
