The Green Bay Packers became the No. 1 team in just about every NFL expert’s power rankings by defeating the New England Patriots, 26-21. They improved their record to 9-3, which is tied for multiple teams for the best record.
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers rose to the challenge by throwing for 368 yards and two touchdown passes against a strong Patriots defense.
Rookie wide receiver Davante Adams also stepped up with six receptions for 121 yards. Running back Eddie Lacy rushed for 98 yards on 21 carries.
The Packers will look to improve to 7-0 at home as they face the Atlanta Falcons, who are in the lead in the NFC South. They have won three of their last four games, and they hold a 5-7 record.
The Falcons’ most recent win came against the Arizona Cardinals as they cruised to a 29-18 upset victory. Quarterback Matt Ryan threw for 361 yards and two touchdowns with an interception on 30-of-41 passing.
Running back Steven Jackson ran for 101 yards on 18 carries while wide receiver Julio Jones scorched the Cardinals defense with 10 receptions for 189 yards and a touchdown.
The Falcons may have to continue without wide receiver Roddy White, who is still questionable with an ankle injury.
The Packers have scored 40.8 points per game at home, so the Falcons will have their hands full with Rodgers and company.
Prediction: Packers 38, Falcons 20
