Cam Newton accident – Panthers quarterback involved in car accident
The Carolina Panthers demolished the New Orleans Saints on the road, 41-10, as quarterback Cam Newton put on his finest performance of the season.
Newton threw for three touchdowns while rushing for another, and running back Jonathan Stewart rushed for 155 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries.
However, the Panthers received some bad luck when the quarterback was involved in a brutal car accident.
Although Newton did not suffer any life-threatening injuries despite the severity of the crash, he has two transverse process fractures in his back that will keep him out for Week 15 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Derek Anderson will start in his place and look to take advantage of a vulnerable Buccaneers defense.
The Buccaneers are on track to possibly have the first pick in the draft after falling to 2-11 with a 34-17 loss to the Detroit Lions.
Quarterback Josh McCown continued to struggle with turnovers as he threw two interceptions, but he threw two touchdown passes, which both went to wide receiver Mike Evans.
The Buccaneers may not have to face Newton, but the Panthers offense can still thrive enough to beat them, and their defense has caught fire as of late.
Prediction: Panthers 24, Buccaneers 14
