The San Francisco 49ers have officially been knocked out of playoff contention after losing their third straight game, 17-7, on the road against the Seattle Seahawks.
The Seahawks remain a game out of first place in the NFC West behind the Arizona Cardinals, and they are set to face each other next week.
Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch ran for 91 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries while quarterback Russell Wilson threw for 168 yards and a touchdown with an interception on 12-of-24 passing.
For the 49ers, quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s struggles continued as he was held to 141 yards on 11-of-19 passing with no touchdown passes.
Injuries to the 49ers’ backfield didn’t help matters as Frank Gore left with a concussion before backup Carlos Hyde left with a sprained ankle.
The wide receivers were also blanked all game as usual by the Seahawks’ beastly secondary. Anquan Boldin and Michael Crabtree’s production equated to a total of five catches for 42 yards.
