The Carolina Panthers came from behind and defeated the Cleveland Browns, 17-13, to improve their record to 6-8-1. The Browns lost quarterback Johnny Manziel to a hamstring injury, so Brian Hoyer returned as the starter.
Panthers quarterback Cam Newton performed efficiently in his first game back since his car accident, and he threw for 201 yards with a touchdown pass and interception on 18-of-31 passing.
Newton also ran for 63 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries. Running back Jonathan Stewart rushed for 122 yards on 24 carries while adding the game-winning touchdown catch.
For the Browns, Hoyer threw for 134 yards and a touchdown pass with an interception on 7-of-13 passing.
Running back Isaiah Crowell was held to 55 yards on 16 carries. Tight end Jordan Cameron made a big play by catching an 81-yard touchdown pass that gave the Browns a temporary lead.
This lead was short-lived as Newton threw his touchdown pass to Stewart only a couple of minutes after the Browns scored.
