The Jacksonville Jaguars avoided being the worst team in the NFL by defeating the Tennessee Titans, 21-13, on Thursday Night Football.
The Titans took a 10-0 lead in the second quarter, but the Jaguars scored a last-minute touchdown before halftime and carried their momentum into the second half. After a Titans field goal, the Jaguars defense held strong for the win as the team improved to 3-12 while the Titans fell to 2-13.
Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles passed for 115 yards and a touchdown on 13-of-26 passing while adding 50 rushing yards.
Running back Jordan Todman effectively sealed the win with a 62-yard touchdown run after filling in for the injured Toby Gerhart.
The win was ultimately sealed though when defensive tackle Sen’Derrick Marks sacked Whitehurst and earned a $600,000 bonus for it.
For the Titans, quarterback Charlie Whitehurst started in place of Zach Mettenberger and threw for 287 yards and a touchdown on 24-of-35 passing.
The Titans may choose to draft Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota if they end up losing again as they are on track to contend for the No. 1 pick in the 2015 draft.
